Finding Items with unrecognized options in Store Editor
If you use Store Editor to build pages, then you are familiar with Item pages and the fields that appear when you edit an item page. To review options defined for an item, edit the item and review the information in the Options field for common syntax errors:
- Extra line breaks
- Extra spaces
- HTML code
- Unsupported characters (control characters and other characters not appearing on your keyboard)

If you make changes to your store using a spreadsheet and the database upload functionality, you can edit your most current spreadsheet for syntax error in the item options. You can then upload the changes as you normally would any product updates and publish your changes.
Finding Items with unrecognized options in Catalog Manager
If you use Catalog Manager along with store tags and an HTML authoring program to build pages, then you are familiar with adding and editing items in Catalog Manager using the available fields. You may also be downloading your products in a table and editing them in a spreadsheet application. The method you choose depends on how many items you may have with options. To review items with unrecognized options, edit the item and review the information in the Options field for common syntax errors:
- Extra line breaks
- Extra spaces
- HTML code
- Unsupported characters (control characters and other characters not appearing on your keyboard)
Also, if you are building your pages using an HTML authoring program and you are creating your own forms to submit items to the shopping cart, you must define those options for the item in the Options field of Catalog Manager or Store Editor in order to validate the item options when added to the shopping cart.
