Using the promoted attribute in Catalog Manager and the Enable promoted items option in the Site Search Settings tool, you can specify items to be shown before other items in search results when the items specified as promoted items match the search term. A maximum of two matching promoted items will be shown before other matching items on the search results page. You may wish to use this feature to show matching items with higher profit margins before other items, to help boost your store revenue.
To enable this feature, you must enable the Enable promoted items option in the Site Search Settings tool, add the promoted attribute to your tables in Catalog Manager, and apply this attribute to the items you wish to promote in search results using either Catalog Manager or Store Editor.
Step 1. Enable the Enable promoted items option
- Sign in to your My Services page.
- Click the Store link.

- In the Search Result Settings section, select the checkbox next to Enable promoted items.

- Click the Save & Preview button and publish your Search Settings.

Step 2. Add the promoted attribute to Catalog Manager tables
- Go to Catalog Manager.

- Click the Manage Tables link under the Products tab.

- Select the table you wish to apply the promoted attribute to using the Manage table pull-down menu.

- Scroll down to Shopping Attributes and click the Add New Attributes link.

- Select the checkbox beside the promoted attribute.

- Ensure the Default Value is set to No, unless you wish to apply this attribute to all items in the selected tables.

- Click the Add button.

- A window will appear advising of the time frame for which addition will be complete. Click the OK button.

- Click the OK button again to confirm the addition of the new attribute.

- Repeat steps 1-5 for all tables you wish to add the promoted attribute to.
Step 3. Apply the promoted attribute to store items
Once you've added the promoted attribute to your tables, you may apply this attribute to the items you wish to promote using either Catalog Manager or Store Editor.
To apply this attribute to items using Catalog Manager:
- Go to Catalog Manager.

- On the Manage Products page, select a table using the View table pull-down menu.

- Select the items you wish to apply the promoted attribute to using the checkboxes beside each item, then click the Edit Selected button at the top or bottom.

- If a pop-up window appears regarding the item changes, click the Ok button. Otherwise, go to step 6.

- On the Edit Selected Products page, enable the checkbox beside the promoted attribute and ensure this attribute is set to Yes.

- Click the Apply Changes button, located at the bottom of the page.

- Publish the catalog.

- Go to Site Search Settings.

To apply this attribute to items using Store Editor:
- Go to Store Editor.

- Navigate to the item page for an item you wish to apply the promoted attribute to.
- Click the Edit button.
