Signing up for a PayPal account is free, and we recommend that you sign up before you begin creating PayPal buttons for your website. You don't need an account to receive payments, but you will be prompted to sign up before you can retrieve the funds sent to your email address via PayPal.
To sign up for a PayPal account, just visit the PayPal website and follow the signup instructions. You'll be asked to do the following:
- Choose an account type: Personal or Business. Transactions with a Personal account are free, but you'll need a Business account to accept debit or credit card payments, for which you'll pay a small fee. Learn more.
- Select your country.
- Enter your name, address, and phone number.
- Choose the email address and password you will use to sign in to your PayPal account. This email address should match the email address you enter when you create your PayPal buttons.
- Enter a password-security question.
- Agree to PayPal's terms and conditions.
- Confirm your personal information.
