What is Gutenberg?
Gutenberg is the new WordPress editor that is standard in version 5.0 +. This editor looks and behaves very differently from the classic WordPress editor.
Is Gutenberg installed automatically?
When you upgrade to WordPress 5 or later Gutenberg will automatically be the new default editor. However, if you are running WordPress 4.9.8, you will see an option to install and activate the Gutenberg plugin.
I need to update my blog. How do I publish?
WordPress has committed to supporting the original editor through 2024. To activate the original Classic Editor, visit the Plugins page from your WordPress Dashboard and activate the Classic Editor plugin.
No content on your site will be changed as a result of installing Classic Editor and pages can be edited, saved, and published exactly as before.
Will I miss out on any new features if I use the Classic Editor?
The new Gutenberg editor currently offers similar functionality to the classic editor, with only the method of how content is added being substantially different.
