Shipping is another important setting to review before you start taking orders for your store and WooCommerce makes it easy to set up. If you are selling virtual or digital products, you may not need to set up shipping, unless the virtual product has a physical component that needs to be shipped. You will also need to decide what type of shipping method you want for your store, for example, you could offer free or flat rate shipping.
There are four shipping sections to review:
- Shipping zones - A shipping zone is a geographic area where a certain set of shipping methods are offered, such as local, domestic, and international shipping. The shipping zone will be set up automatically based on your location. Within shipping zones, you can set shipping methods, such as free shipping. Learn more.
- Shipping options - You can set the shipping calculation and destination in this section. For example, you can set the shipping calculator to appear on the cart page. Note: There are default options set for you in this section, review them carefully.
- Shipping classes - You can add a shipping class to a group of similar products. This allows you to add different shipping rates to different classes of products. Learn more.
- Local pickup - Configure this section if you allow local pickup for your store. Learn more.
There is an additional section to review if you installed WooCommerce Shipping. With WooCommerce Shipping, you can print USPS and DHL labels right from the dashboard. Some WooCommerce Shipping features may be limited by geographic region and may require additional extensions and subscriptions. Learn more.
Important: If you don't see the shipping tab, go to WooCommerce > Settings > General > Shipping locations - select a Ship to option, and Save changes.
