Use more than one merchant account processor
You can configure your store to have more than one payment processor. You'll need to apply for your additional payment processors, then activate them in Payment Center once we've added them for you. Then you can process the order with the transaction panel for the payment processor associated with the payment option (credit card, PayPal, or other) used for the order.
While you can set up multiple payment processors, you can only set up one merchant account processor for processing credit card transaction for each card type (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, etc.) as only one processor can be set to perform real-time authorizations and manual transactions. For example, you can set up merchant account A to process all Visa and MasterCard transactions, and merchant account B to process American Express and Discover Card, but you cannot set merchant account A and B to process all four card types.
Notes about multiple merchant accounts
- Each merchant account should be set to process a unique set of card types (Visa, MasterCard) without overlapping.
- Merchants cannot use the authorization from one merchant account to process a manual transaction in another merchant account.
- Merchants should check with their merchant account providers to determine what circumstances result in non-qualified transactions so as to avoid the higher fees typically associated with such transactions.
