When a site visitor tries to view a page that you have deleted, they will typically encounter a generic 404 not found error. You can replace this message with friendlier directions to a new page. Note: A 404 error page will also appear if a visitor clicks a link to a site page which does not include the page's file extension. Learn more.

Create a custom error page

1. From your Manage Site page, click Edit site or Site Design.
   
2. Click the page name on the top-left.
   
3. When the menu options open, select Manage.
   
4. On the Manage Pages page, select NEW PAGE.
   
5. There will be several page types to choose from. You may wish to select NEW BLANK PAGE. Select the page you wish to add by clicking the page thumbnail.
   
6. In the Name your new page dialog, name the page e404 and click the Add page button.
   
7. In the next dialog, which asks if you wish you add the page as a link to your site menu, select Later. Note: Since viewers will see 404 error pages if a page doesn't exist, you will not need to add the page to your site menu.
   
8. If you chose a NEW BLANK PAGE, you will need to add a new Text Block section to add your custom Page can't be found message. Learn how to edit the default text.
9. Once you've finished adding your custom Page can't be found message, remember to publish your site.
