Smart Update performs a test on WordPress updates without affecting the production site. It clones your site and runs a number of checks to see if updates have broken anything. You can review the test results and check the test site itself to make an informed decision about updating your production site. 

Activate smart update

1. Sign in to your  My Services page.

2. Click the Hosting link. 
    

3. Click the WordPress Management link on the left toolbar. Note: WordPress Management is not available for the WordPress Essentials Hosting plan.  

   

4. Toggle On to activate Smart Update for the selected website.
   

5. Click the Updates link. A modal opens to available updates.
   

6. Click the Run Smart Update Tests button. A modal opens to confirm all updates.
   

7. Click the Test All Updates button. Note: You can test all or select individual items by placing a checkmark next to the item name.
   

8. Smart Update will Clone your website and perform a series of Tests.
   

9. Once the tests are completed, the results are presented. Note: There is a link to access the test website to verify the applied updates.
   

10. Click the Apply Updates button if you are satisfied with the test results.
    

11. If you do not want to apply updates, click the Discard Updates button. The updates will not be applied to your production website.
