Is there a way I can temporarily stop my account from billing?
The only way to prevent the billing of your service is to cancel your account.
If I don't want to cancel my service, can I temporarily close my website or store?
There are a few things which can't be switched off, such as your domain name resolving and business email being delivered. Although there are no options to temporarily close a service, Merchant Solutions, Web Hosting, and Website Builder customers have options to prevent their site or store from being able to be viewed publicly.
Web Hosting
- If you are making changes to your website and want to temporarily hide it from visitors, you can manually put it into maintenance mode. Visitors accessing your website when it is in maintenance mode see the maintenance screen instead of the website content. This option is available in the WordPress Toolkit. Learn more.
- Your WordPress website enters maintenance mode automatically when you are updating plugins or copying data between WordPress websites via WordPress Toolkit.
- Password protect your entire website. Only those who have a username and password can view your site pages. All you need to do is disable password protection when you're ready for your site to become viewable again.
- If your site is designed using a third-party tool, you can download your files via FTPS, then delete your files in File Manager.
Merchant Solutions
Note for merchants: If you set your items to Orderable No or hide credit card options in your checkout, you may also want to place a We'll be back soon message on your store and checkout pages regarding the inability to order items.
Note: There's no function provided to place a hold on Localworks or Commerce Central accounts.
