When an updated version of WordPress is available, you'll be notified in your dashboard. Important: It's recommended to back up your site before updating to a new version of WordPress. Learn how to back up your WordPress files.
On the WordPress Updates page, click the version link to review notes about the update. Click the Update Now button to proceed with the update. Note: On the top of your dashboard, you'll also see a notification if a new version of WordPress is available. You can review notes about the update and update from there as well.
After the update, you'll see a confirmation at the top of the page.
Note: If you navigate back to the Updates page, you will see another confirmation that you have the latest version of WordPress.
Click the WordPress Management link in the left toolbar. Note: WordPress Management is not available for the WordPress Essentials Hosting plan.
In the WordPress Toolkit Dashboard, click the Update link for the available version in the Status section. Note: WordPress Core will automatically update if your Autoupdate setting is set to Yes for major or minor updates. If you are concerned that WordPress Autoupdate may break your website, use Smart Update.
Place a checkmark next to the available WordPress Core update. Note: If a WordPress Core update is available, you will see the Restore Point checkbox. Keep this checkbox selected to create a restore point you can use to roll back the update if something goes wrong.
Click the Update button.
Once the updates are applied, you will see an update successful notification.
Note: You can also update WordPress Core from the Updates link.
